We are Alan and Frederic: an Englishman and a Frenchman who found and fell in love with Hotel Des Étrangers, and its stunning surroundings, and were inspired to re-imagine this historic building as a Maison d’hôte and restaurant by its beautiful location. Our mission is to provide an exceptional experience for every one of our guests.
Although the house is a personal labour of love, we approach it with professional credentials: Frederic has a background in the high-end, world-class, London restaurant scene, and as a trained chef and experienced restaurant manager, brings extensive knowledge and expertise to the menu, wine list, and customer service.
For us, every guest provides another opportunity for us to share our passion for beautiful food in a beautiful place.

The house sits on the edge of the charming village of St Martin D’Entraunes, which lies at the gateway to the world renowned Mercantour National Park, a pristine wilderness two hours drive from Nice that attracts walkers, nature lovers and skiers to experience this natural paradise with the best the Alps has to offer.

There has been a hotel on this site since at least the middle of the Nineteenth Century, and the cellars that lie beneath the building date from the Sixteenth Century.

The accommodation comprises five spacious rooms, each offering breath taking views of the surrounding valley and mountains. From 2023 our rooms will be complemented by an intimate restaurant and bar with a seasonal menu and daily specials and at present we offer breakfast and evening meals (at an additional cost) to our resident guests.
Guests can relax with a book or a drink in our indoor eating area or on the sunlit terrace.
Our gardens are a peaceful sanctuary where guests can stroll through the orchard.
